An Old Cupboard
Back in Pennsylvania there are a lot of farms around where I live. Although we are surrounded by fields, we aren’t far from society at all. In fact the nearest Costco is a 3 minute drive away. It’s the rolling hills that give the illusion you are isolated, but really the next gas station is just over the hump.
Lately I’ve been thinking more and more about consumerism. I’ve decided that I would much rather become a person who produces what I need instead of just going out and buying it. This goal comes along with the goal of learning how to sew and make my own clothes. I would much rather be able to do things organically than just keep buying stuff over and over again.
Now, I know we’ve talked absolutely nothing about this old country cupboard, but I promise it ties in! I’ve been paging through pictures I have saved of various country homes. I particularly love how much wood is used in a country home, this cupboard being a perfect example. It’s something that I would like to own some day in the future (hopefully by being able to make it or have a male friend help me out). It would be the perfect way to organize the pottery!

Snowflakes Falling
Since it hardly ever snows here in Nashville, BethAnn decided to bring the chilly flakes TO Nashville (although I do hear some flakes are predicted this weekend).
Vicikie and Anna sat around cutting out snowflakes out of computer paper but towards the end the snowflakes started looking more like some strange ancient carvings you’d find on the inside of a cave, but the heart was still put in them : )
How do you spruce up your home for the holidays?

Measuring Up
This post was originally going to be all about the beautiful kitchen ware I have fallen in love with over at Anthropologie but when I came across these measuring cups my heart skipped a beat. Okay, so I might be a bit dramatic about my affection for these measuring cups, but trust me…it runs deep. ($32)

Retro Kitchen Appliances
Creating a home entirely inspired and made from retro furniture, appliances, and home decor pieces can be challenging. However I think the most challenging part to creating a retro home would have to be the kitchen.
First off, you want something that is safe to use. Old appliances aren’t as safe as new ones which brings up the problem of finding an appliance that looks old but is built like new.
In comes the Big Chill Fridge. They have amazing retro kitchen fixtures that keep your house looking dated (in the most flattering sense) but also work like new. They’re safe to use and aren’t a fire hazard in your house (no more leaking gas!).
I’m in love and I hope you are too.

Holiday Home Decor Ideas

Decorating for the holidays is one of my favorite things to do. I love these ideas that Country Living published. Especially that cute advent calendar! And what a creative way to do a wreath – with photographs. A lot of these ideas came from Sweet Paul!
